I take a great deal of pride and pleasure in being a living historian. I specialize in interpreting civilian life in the period around the American Revolution, however, I have done interpretations of other historical periods as well. I am interested in teaching people through demonstrations and hands-on participation about life during those times. I have worked at different State, Federal, and privately-owned historic sites across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. I created the Living History Program for Hope Plantation, in Windsor, NC, as a collaboration between private and public historic sites to help teach school children about North Carolina’s rich and varied history. I am a certified interpreter by the National Association for Interpretation.
Living History
18th Century Beets
This cooking demonstration video was a collaboration between the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough, House in the Horseshoe State Historic Site, and Historic Interpretations, Inc., for the Alliance’s 2021 Revolutionary War Day Living History Program. This is my third collaboration with the Alliance and Historic Interpretations for the program, which is normally held in February. For the video I researched the original recipe, wrote the script and shot list, did the shopping and initial preparation work, and then we shot the video.
